Ray Rokicki, Jr. is an accomplished human resources leader, educator, and facilitator. In his new role, HR Director, Ray brings a deep commitment to organizational excellence, employee development, and strategic HR leadership to one of New Jersey’s most impactful public agencies.
Prior to joining the Newark Housing Authority, Ray served as an HR Advisor for Mitratech, a trusted leader in HR and compliance solutions, where he supported organizations nationwide in strengthening their people operations. Before that, he was the Human Resource Business Partner for HMSHost, overseeing HR functions across the NY/NJ Region, including Newark, LaGuardia, JFK, and Islip Airports, as well as the Jersey Gardens Mall.
Ray’s career spans a diverse range of human resource, sales, and management roles across the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, and California with organizations such as Apple, Five Guys, Flextronics, SpringPoint Senior Living, and SprintNextel.
A series of pivotal experiences in employee development, engagement, and retention ultimately led Ray to focus his career in Human Resources. He has taught SHRM certification prep and continuing education courses for SHRM, since 2014. He has also been an adjunct faculty member at both PACE University and William Paterson University.
Ray is currently completing his Doctorate of Business Administration, with an anticipated dissertation defense in July 2026. He holds an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management, the PHR and SHRM SCP certifications, multiple SHRM specialty credentials, and is a Certified Practitioner of MBTI® Step I™ and Step II™. He earned his BA in History with a minor in African, African American, and Caribbean Studies.
Beyond his professional commitments, Ray has served on several nonprofit boards and remains actively involved in his college fraternity, Alpha Phi Delta, where he currently serves as the National Vice President for Alumni Affairs.
Born and raised in Bayonne, he has lived in Morris County since 2001 with his wife, two daughters, and their rescue dogs, Sully and Dakota.
