PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2025, AT 3:00 P.M., THE NEWARK HOUSING AUTHORITY WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING RELATED TO PROPOSED CHANGES TO ITS ADMINITRATIVE PLAN and that the Newark Housing Authority wishes to amend its ADMINISTRATIVE PLAN by adding the following changes:  

1. Pre-applications for Waiting List must be completed in HCV software/database.
2. Pre-applications for Waiting List will remain active for 18 months.
3. Applicants with debts owed to a PHA will be given 30 days to repay in full in order to remain on the Waiting List.
4. Required HOTMA changes were added as per Notice PIH 2024-38.
5. Required HOTMA changes were added as per Notice PIH 2024-19.
6. Voucher extensions will not exceed 180 days, reasonable accommodations may be made to meet the needs of persons with disabilities.
7. Clarified language regarding VAWA.
8. Removal of language regarding the City of Newark’s Rent Control Ordinance.
9. Preferences were removed for the Project Based Voucher Program

THE PUBLIC HEARING WILL TAKE PLACE AT 3:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2025, AT NHA’S MAIN OFFICE LOCATED AT 500 BROAD STREET, BASEMENT MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM, NEWARK, NJ.
